FAQ
Common questions
What does MerchantBase actually do?
We help Shopify teams plan, fix, build, and improve the systems around their store. That can mean theme work, checkout improvements, app cleanup, email & retention, B2B workflows, migrations, automation, documentation, or practical technical guidance.
How do you usually work with teams?
Most work starts with a clear goal and a focused scope. From there, we can help with one specific fix, a scoped project, or a light ongoing rhythm as needed.
What kinds of projects are the best fit?
Good fits are Shopify problems tied to growth or operations: custom features, better buyer flows, email and retention programs, app cleanup, B2B systems, migrations, performance, or automation that removes repeated manual work.
Can you help if we only need a small fix?
Yes. Small fixes, troubleshooting, theme adjustments, app reviews, and practical advice are all valid starting points.
Can you handle larger scoped builds too?
Yes. Larger work starts with discovery and scoping so the path is clear before production begins. That might become a focused build, checkout upgrade, migration, integration, or custom Shopify feature.
Do you work with Shopify Plus and B2B stores?
Yes. We help with Shopify Plus, wholesale and B2B workflows, account approvals, tiered pricing, bulk ordering, checkout constraints, data cleanup, and internal operations.
Do you work inside Klaviyo or other retention tools?
Yes. We work inside Klaviyo and the broader retention stack — Recharge, Smile, and similar apps — on audits, lifecycle flows, segmentation, deliverability, and subscription or loyalty setups. We document everything so your team can operate it after the work is done.
Can you help launch a brand-new Shopify store?
Yes. New store setup and launch is part of our work — theme, structure, apps, content, QA, and launch — alongside migrations from WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce, or custom platforms.
How do you use AI in the work?
AI helps with planning, analysis, implementation support, QA checklists, documentation, and automation ideas. Senior judgment still owns scope, architecture, quality, and final decisions.
Will our team be able to maintain what you build?
That is the goal. We prefer simple, durable solutions your team can understand. When useful, we document decisions, explain workflows, and hand off enough context for confident maintenance.
Do you work with our existing team or agency?
Yes. Second opinions, co-working with your developer, or picking up where an agency left off are all common. We slot in cleanly and hand off with documentation.
Do we need to commit to ongoing support?
No. You can start with a small task, an audit, a scoping call, or a focused project. Ongoing support is optional and can scale only if it makes sense.
Where are you located?
MerchantBase is based in British Columbia, Canada, and works with teams across North America — and remotely with Shopify merchants anywhere.
How do we start?
Send a short note about what you want to improve. We'll review it and suggest the clearest next step: a call, focused support, an audit, or a scoped project path.
